Description of the information about the Confederate Veteran's Death and Burial is entered on the following section of the form:
Date of Death or Burial: Year, Month and Day. "unknown" is supported in each field so partial information can be entered. Year should be the four digit number such as "1861." Burial Year can be used as a search term. Cemetery: Name, Street, City, State and Country. Name should be as standard as possible to improve search results. Street address should be the main address for the cemetery if known. Abbreviations for State should used, for example GA. Country should be left blank if USA or CSA and only filled in if Veteran is buried in a foreign country. If Street Address, City and State are filled in the geo-code for the cemetery will become the default geo-code for all Veterans registered as being buried in the cemetery. All fields can be used as search terms and Cemetery Name supports wild carding on portions of the Name. Marker: Marker, Civilian/Government, Iron Cross and Inscription/Epitaph. Marker allows selection of unknown, Yes or No to indicate if the Grave has a Marker. Civilian/Government allows selection of unknown, Civilian or Government to indicate what type of marker. Iron cross allows selection of unknown, Yes or No to indicate presence of an Iron Cross. Inscription/Epitaph is a free form entry field to record wording on Grave Marker. All fields are available for search entries. GPS: Source, Latitude, Longitude. Source indicates if the GPS is entered for the Grave site or was automatically defaulted from a cemetery geo-coding (see Cemetery above). Searching by range from a location will be available in the second version of the Registry search. Image: A picture of Veteran's Grave site in digital form.
