The Service information for each veteran is entered via the following form:

Veteran Name: First, Middle, Last and Suffix. All can be used as search terms. Be sure and use proper capitaliztion to imporve search results.

Rank and Unit: Rank, Unit, Compnay, Regiment and State. It is recommended that rank be spelled out; ie: Private. Company should be "A," "B" etc. Abbreviations for State should be used, for example GA. Following these guidelines will improve search results as all fields can be used as a search term.

Enlistment Date: Year, Month and Day. "unknown" is supported in each field so partial information can be entered. Year should be the four digit number such as "1861." Enlistment Year can be used as a search term.

Discharge Date: same as Enlistment Date.

POW: Free form entry of any POW information. Can be used as a search term with wildcard, for example: "Rock Island" can be entered as a search term and will locate any vteran with the term "Rock Island" in teh POW field.
